I'm looking at a graphics card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187054 Will it work with my Dell Dimension E510? (Specs): http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/del...-31555136.html I'm fairly certain I would need a better power supply, also. What would you recommend? My price limit is like $170. Thank you in advance. |

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
The card will work, but you will need a better power supply. There are many brands for power supplies, but I'd reccomend either Corsair, Coolermaster or Thermaltake and you are gonna want one with at least 550w of power, preferally 600w.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
My only concern with the card is that it may stick out too far. And, you are sure this power supply will meet the needs of my PC and its components? Will I need to buy some kind of molex adapter for the new graphics card?

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
OCZ is a good brand for RAM. They're a **** brand for power supplies. Try a Corsair 550VX or 650TX.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Now there's a not good brand for a psu. Rosewills are definitely not recommended. OCZ makes ok power supplies, I've used a couple of them, but I find them loud. Corsair make great ones, plenty of stable power and quiet. Get a Corsair.
A power supply is the last thing you want to cheap out on.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Hey! I use OCZ in two gaming machines and both work very well. Rosewill is like the plague and swine flu wrapped in a moldy tortilla.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Yah, the OCZ's I've used worked fine, just the noise, not even in the same ballpark as corsair when it comes to silence.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
How is the brand hec?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817339025 And, I found a cheaper card that I know will fit: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150370 Or what other 1GB $100 or less graphics cards would be better? Thoughts? Last edited by loki1717; 07-05-2009 at 12:43 AM. |

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Unless you're playing games at high resolutions, you probably don't need 1GB of memory on a card. Then again, even if you are, the 9400 is a low end card anyway.
Here's a 9600GSO (only 384MB of GDDR3 though) that's 35 bucks after rebate and has free shipping. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121319 HEC isn't a brand you should be looking at. Since you want cheap, here's an ocz for 60 bucks after rebate. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341017 That psu would also be able to power this 9800GT, which is 100 bucks after rebate. A lot more card than a 9400GT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130435

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
For any low or midrange card 512 is what it can handle. The gpu's on those cheap cards can't actually back up the 1gb of video memory. Only very high end card like 4870's , gtx 280's , ect can actually use the full 1gb of vram.

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Thank you all very much for your input. I'm going to get the PSU and latter graphics card grimx133 mentioned. I will get back to you on how it goes when I install them. Any precautions I should take specific to installing a PSU?

Re: Will this card work with my PC?
Just the usual things such as making sure you've discharged any static and aren't pinching wires.
