Hi There. Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
I was playing either MASS EFFECT or FALLOUT 3 when this first happened. I had completed both games twice and was about to uninstall the one I was playing but thought I would go check something out in the game. Game loads normally but when I loaded the game file I got about .5 of a second then the screen goes wonky (diagonal lines of color, changing colors sometimes). Seemed like the game might have been playing in the background. I said oh well and uninstalled the game. I haven't played for a while so I go Call of Juarez - Bound in Blood, installed and same thing. The game loads, the beginning cut scenes plays but when I actually go to play it does the same wonky screen. The game seems to be working as I can back out using what I guess are the exit command sequence and I the game closes normally. I thought it might be my machine, it has been a while so I format and re-install WinXP SP3, install directx 9.0C, install Nvidia's latest drivers, install all system and device software and try again with COW-BiB and exact same thing. I installed Rainbow Six Vegas which worked before and it does the same wonky screen thing as soon as I start playing. I installed Heroes of Might and Magic 5 which is a isometric game and it works fine. Seems like as soon as I go into first person shooter mode the screen goes wonky and I can't see a thing. The fresh OS install should have worked so I am stuck. Is it possible for my card to be broken and play isometric games but not FPS ones? Thanks again and sorry for the long post. WinXP Pro SP3 Intel 6600 dual core 2.4GHz 2G RAM 19" LG Monitor 1280x1024 60MHz Nvidia GEForce 7900 GTO 256M Cheers! |
