Was about to order, but some users on a norwegian forum commented on the graphics card, that it wasnt that good for some reason. Im not sure if they know what they are talking about, so will ask again here for advice.

Like mentioned before, the new power "thing" (sorry) is this one:

Corsair Powersupply HX 750W

Could someone please select a card at this page that would go with it?
(I know the site is in norwegian, but I believe the card names should be understandable)

http://www.komplett.no/k/kl.aspx?mfr...By=p&zbo2=true

1200-1900 NOK (price) works. All I want is a card that will do its job and work with the new power supply.

Other hardware:

Mainboard: Dell 0WG855
Physical memory: 4096 MB DDR2-SDRAM
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 (2400 MHz)

Re: Dead video card(?) and heating issues

Thank uou again dai!

Think ill go for the XFX Radeon HD 4890 1GB "BLACK" GDDR5

In the info it says "supported API DirectX 10.1
as far as I can tell I have DirectX 9 on my computer, is that a problem?

And will my somewhat outdated processor handle the new components?

One last question: Is there a way to tell if the new parts will fit into my cabinet? :/

Re: Dead video card(?) and heating issues

Also considered a brand new pc. (Will be built by shop)

Put together these components:

Power supply:
Corsair Powersupply 750W (Should I choose 850 or 1000 maybe?)

Main card:
Asus Rampage II Extreme, X58 Socket-1366, DDR3, ATX, SLI&CrossFireX, 3xPCI-Ex(2.0)x16

DDR3 memory:
Corsair XMS3 DDR3 1600MHz 6GB CL9 Kit w/3x 2GB XMS3 modules, CL9-9-9-24

Processor:
Intel Core™ i7 Quad Processor i7-950 1366, 3.066GHz, QuickPath 4.8GTs, 4x 256KB, Boxed

Video card:
XFX GeForce GTX 295 576M 1792MB PhysX PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI, HDCP, HDMI, Core 240x2, 55nm, Single PCB version

Hard drive:
Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B 1TB 7200Rpm, 16MB Cache, SATA

I apologize that the thread is now completely different from what it was, but hope you will still take some more time to help me out. :)

What do you think of this set-up in general?

My System

Re: Dead video card(?) and heating issues

more power supply definitely, maybe 900 is enough

and i you plan on playing games mostly, get a dual core, not a quad, dual is more stable with games, quad is better fom more difficult and demanding programs such as graphic design and those stuff

Re: Dead video card(?) and heating issues

you just upgrade d/x to ver. 10

the 4890 is 9.5 inches long check you have the depth in the case for it
