GeForce FX 5200 - Video Flickering

I have a GeForce FX 5200 256 MB video card.

I want to run it on AGP 8x...But whenever I change it to 8x; the graphics flicker in various places while playing games.

Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

SA

checked 4 updates ?

You might go to the nvidia site, www.nvidia.com , and see if you have the latest drivers. I have a couple of GeForce FX 5200, 128mb running at 8x agp in Asus P4P800-e-deluxe mobo's, with the AGP aperture in bios set for 128mb.
(not that I can see much difference when it is set to 64mb). Running DirectX 9c, if that helps. My nvidia drivers are 6.14.10.6693 .

-Thank you for your reply!

-I have the latest Omega Drivers (http://omegadrivers.net).

-I have aperture size set to 256 MB...Would turning that down do anything?

-I am running latest version of DirectX.

-I have a Soyo Dragon KT-600 for a mothboard.

-I was told (by a maybe not-so-wise person) that if it only happens when I switch to 8x, that it is probably a bad card or slot....What is the validity of this?

-What is the difference between 4x and 8x...Is it something super important that I should try to get working? I know what it does (kinda)...But not how important it is.

-I have 512 MB of RAM...If that helps any.

Thanks for your reply!

From what i've read multiple times the actual performance diffrence between 4x and 8x is maybe 5%.... so i wouldnt worry too much and just run it on 4x aslong as you dont have any trouble with it then.

I would set your aperature size to either 64 or 128 at the very most. That in of it self may not help solve the flickering but will help performance wise.

You might also try setting your monitor "refresh rate" higher than the default of 60mhz.

Ok, I've changed it back to 4x...Since a few people have said that there is no major performance boost.

I'll change the aperature size back down.

And I have refresh rate set to 85mhz...Anything lower and I can see the screen refreshing...Gives me a headache.

Thanks a lot for your time and replies. :)
