[SOLVED] Will a PCIe x16 2.0 card work on a PCIe x16 1.0 slot?

Hi, I am thinking about buying the HD 3650 for my system.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131084

This card is the PCIe x16 2.0 version, and I've read on an online review that
"The HD 3650 gets a slight performance boost from the additional bandwidth of PCIe 2.0, but it also supports older PCIe 1.1 slots."

Does this mean that on my system, which only has a PCIe x16 1.0 slot, the card will not work?

Also, will the card that I am buying, the HD 3650 512mb GDDR2, run better than this one? This one is the HD 3650 128mb GDDR3 version.

Thank you in advance.

This is the motherboard, and I'm pretty sure I'm running a 480w psu.

Re: Will a PCIe x16 2.0 card work on a PCIe x16 1.0 slot?

The way it works is , pci-e 2.0 cards are SUPPOSE to work in regular pci-e slots. However , typically if you have an old machine , poor quality chipset , or and oem machine they sometimes just won't work. The only real way to know is to just simply try it. Since the machine uses an on board gpu first check to make sure there's no setting in the bios fist that disables the on board and enables pci-e cards before you install it.
