Simple question re: connector on card

There is a little white connector (with 2 little pins) on this Asus video card. What is this connector for? Perhaps a temperature monitor? Should it be connected via cable to the motherboard? Part number 5188-7647

Re: Simple question re: connector on card

Is the graphics card working well?
If it is I would ignore this - it could well be as you suspect a temperature monitor wire.
But if alls well don't try to fix it.
It could be for SLI with two cards as is the connecton next to it.
Post the graphics card type.

Re: Simple question re: connector on card

Have checked the part number you posted and I dont think you need to worry about it - I am fairly certain that its the power connection for a second cards cooling fan.

Why would SPDIF need to pass through a video card?

Re: Simple question re: connector on card

HDMI = High Definition Multimedia Interface

The "S/PDIF passthrough" is the ability of the card to accept S/PDIF from an external sound card, and incorporate it into the HDMI datastream for transmission to an HDMI processor.
