~major issue~ XFX Nvidia 8600GT 512mb DDR2
I can load windows with the gfx card in (no drivers installed) but there are hundred of odd coloured pixels everywhere. When I install the driver, I am then unable to get past windows xp loading screen, the loading screen shows lots of odd coloured pixels, freezes, then shows me a white screen with more funny coloured pixels. I hope you can help.

Re: ~major issue~ XFX Nvidia 8600GT 512mb DDR2
Im not sure where to get my full specs, but I know a few of them off the top of my head.
PSU: 250W CPU: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3400+ 2.2GHz GPU: XFX Geforce 8600GT 512mb DDR2 HDD: 200GB RAM: 2GB OS: Windows XP SP2 The card is new, worked 100% perfect for the first 2-3 days, then this started happening. |

Re: ~major issue~ XFX Nvidia 8600GT 512mb DDR2
The 250w PSU isn't large enough to power a PCIe card you need to be around here> http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132563
Or this one is ok and a bit cheaper> http://www.ebuyer.com/product/127861 See if you have a page named PC Health or similar in the Bios and check for the readings of the 12v, 3.3v power rails. |

Re: ~major issue~ XFX Nvidia 8600GT 512mb DDR2
Ahhhhhh.... I just purchased one a few days ago, I hope it is good enough.
http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/828429...t/Product.html ^ Please tell me this one will handle it ok >.< btw, ive tested this card in my mothers computer too, which has identical specs to my computer, and it has the same problem. Do you think it could be the card? or its probably the PSU? |

Re: ~major issue~ XFX Nvidia 8600GT 512mb DDR2
It could still be the PSU however under powering will damage the card. Since it's a new card RMA it(return it).
And no that power supply is not worth putting in. Cheap power supplies leave out expensive components such as over/under voltage protection circuits MOV's and the needed heatsinks they also can take out other components when they fail. http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/347685...W/Product.html |
