Exclamation HELP! ATI Radeon 9000 card crashing monitor

I really need help with my Radeon 9000 card. Somehow it's crashing the monitor (in several different ways). It crashes every 5 minutes to every hour, seemingly at random. The crash either 1- screen goes black, then turns the monitor off/into sleep mode (orange light) and I have to hardboot the system and turn the monitor back on completely, or 2- screen goes black, turns the monitor into sleep mode then back on successfully, showing an error, or 3- screen goes funky, monitor resets itself successfully, but no error. I don't know a whole lot about computers, but here’s the basic system info you might need:

Card name: RADEON 9000 SERIES
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: RADEON 9000 AGP (0x4966)
DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Display Memory: 64.0 MB
Current Mode: 800 x 600 (32 bit) (56Hz)
Monitor: Korea Data Systems Visual Sensation VS-4D
Monitor Max Res: 1024,768
Driver Name: ati2dvag.dll
Driver Version: 6.14.0010.6497 (English)
Operating System: Windows 2000 Professional (5.0, Build 2195) Service Pack 4
Language: English (Regional Setting: English)
System Manufacturer: VIA Technologies, Inc.
System Model: VT8366-8235
BIOS: Phoenix-Award BIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Duron(tm) processor, ~900MHz
Memory: 512MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

To rule out some obvious issues…. There wasn't a warranty on my card, so the manufacturer can't help me of course, but I’ve got the most recent driver update and software installed. [as i write this i am installing a new update they put up, but i doubt it will solve the problem]. I’ve got the most recent windows 2000pro updates installed also. I’ve switched out monitors and that didn’t make a difference. I checked the tempature and it’s about 98 degrees farenheit, which I’m told is normal. It crashes no matter what program I’m in, even if I’m just at the desktop, but it seems random. Since i've downloaded the graphic card control panel and turned the hardware acceleration all the way down to do more diagnosis it's been freezing even more, but now sometimes it brings up error messages. The messages say “VPU recover has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphic driver commands" and “VPU recover was unable to fully recover from a hardware deadlock and has switched to software rendering. to restore hardware rendering you must restart." and then gives me the option to restart now or not. i did a direct x test previously and it said i don't even have hardware rendering, so ...? Any help would be very much appreciated!!

It says a maximum of 350 watt...it was a cheap power supply though. Mine have a tendency to die on me easily.
