reliable hardware components
I'd like to collect some components for a gaming-pc, but I'm not sure what are reliable parts. The previous videocard (geforce 7900gt) was really loud and the fan burned down, also the fan of the motherboard (asus A8N-E) also broke down. How can I avoid this? I checked some reviews and for example the videocard (geforce 7900gt) had really good reviews.
So how can I assure that the parts I want to select: -minimal noise -reliable fans (or other way of cooling) Last edited by okeee; 06-03-2009 at 11:11 AM. |

Re: reliable hardware components
There are different brands who make the same cards. Nvidia and ATI design graphics cards and build the chipsets--companies like EVGA, BFG, HIS, Sapphire, Diamond, XFX, ASUS, and others put the cards together with fans and shrouds and sell them under their brand name. So you probably got a cheap, generic version of the 7900GT, but read a review of a good brand's 7900.
I'm not real familiar with Nvidia cards, but I've heard EVGA is a good brand, and I had a good experience with a BFG card. |

Re: reliable hardware components
Means simply that a gamer wants performance and not much else matters to them, so noise normally doesn't bother those who do gaming. In fact, some even like it.
O.K., don't ask me why, because I don't like a loud computer and don't know why anyone would enjoy all that noise. Now you know why I use only Seasonic power supplies...they are very quiet!
