Graphics Glitched/colourout(evil cousin of blackout)
Hey, So i have a Evga nvidia 8500GT 256mb(i believe, can't remember exactly right now).....anyway....little while ago the screen started to glitch...words would jumble and un jumble....flip up side down....and there were lines appearing on the screen. I restarted my computer and re-set the monitor cable in the back of the computer. Everything was fine it was back to normal. Next day same thing happened....only it was a little bit worse. This time i tried re setting the video card to see if that would fix it because it was getting to hard to read the screen to try any kind of software trouble shooting. When i turned the computer back on the screen was a complete mix of colours and un readable.....i was thinking maybe some how the PCI-e slot is dirty and maybe that is causing the trouble...but i'm not sure. I have an extra Harddrive with a boot of XP on it i plan on eventually swapping in to see what happens when it boots up the computer. Anyone have any kind of idea as to what is wrong and what can be done?

Re: Graphics Glitched/colourout(evil cousin of blackout)
Hi, welcome to TSF
Blow a can of compressed air around the motherboard slots and fans to remove any dust. Remove the graphics card and clean the gold fingers with an eraser. What make/model and total watts is your PSU? What are the temperatures and voltages in BIOS? Can you test the card in another computer with a suitable PSU? Are you using the VGA or DVI connector?

Re: Graphics Glitched/colourout(evil cousin of blackout)
If you're getting the colors and artifacts in BIOS, then it's not a Windows driver problem. It's more likely damaged VRAM on the graphics card. The best way to confirm this is to test the card and monitor on another computer. Do you have a local PC store that could test them and the PSU for you?
Your DR-8500BTX is a 500W Deer, not a very good model. It's the equivalent of a 300W PSU, making it unsuitable for your setup, and possibly the reason why the VRAM is damaged.
