EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
I received a EVGA GeForce 8800 GTS on Dec 2007 as a Xmas present and was installed in my computer, 1 month ago start to have some videocard problems and because I didn't register in the first 30 days of purchase ( company police ) i can't receive a lifetime warranty. Could be my mistake didn't register but I was expecting for my almost 300 $ a better quality product, that could last more than 1 year , what a shame of this product, very low quality.
Now I back to my old Radeon X1900 and planning to get another video card, but EVGA quality sucks...

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
That's funny because EVGA is actually one of the best quality nvidia brands out there. Which is why they back there products with a lifetime warranty. Can't say it's very hard to take 5 minutes and register the card. So it's not really evga that sucks.......

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
Thanks for the answer emosun
The issue is not that I didn't register, it's the dead of my 1 year old - 300 $ graphic card. If the brand is "so good" that offer lifetime warranty, why my video card is dead?? all i said is that "so good" video card should still be working for me, instead I'm back to my old "3" years old Radeon. The presumption that because I didn't register, I deserve lose my bucks do not justify "the quality" of the product, which is my personal review. Maybe I will protect other that could have same mistake, but also that product in "my persona" experience suck and no lifetime warranty will change that. Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
I've used various brands of graphics cards over the years. Even the expensive, top of the range ones can fail sometimes, so I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that all EVGA products are going to be bad based on one unfortunate experience.
As your card lasted for over 18 months, it obviously wasn't faulty out of the box, and has degenerated over time. It could have failed because of a problem with another part of your computer. It could be a weak PSU (check with multimeter and BIOS readings). When you started to notice problems, did you monitor the temperatures and voltages to see which part could be faulty? Did you clean the case out and check the fans for dust? If you upgraded to the 8800GTS from onboard graphics or a card that required less power, did you also upgrade the PSU?

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
I'm with koala. Sounds more like a quality of power problem than a defective graphics card.
EVGA is the flagship company for Nvidia and they put out quality products.

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
Thanks for your answer guys...
I bring a Tech, review all details regard my problem and he find nothing wrong or underpowered on this computer. When double check and installed the EVGA in other computer find similar issues as mine. Back in mine computer, the Radeon is doing fine. Conclusion in my case : 1. Next time register products no matter the brand 2. EVGA company is like any other company around, can make mistake from assembly line and send some poor quality product out there ( unfortunately I got that lemon. 3. Thanks God I still have the Radeon video card backup ![]() And for EVGA company : THANKS FOR NOTHING... |

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
The Ultra LS500 Lifetime Series 500W PSU gets plenty of good reviews. The only thing I'd be worried about is the 28A on the +12V line. This is borderline for a PCIE graphics card, according to nvidia/ATI recommendations. We usually recommend PSUs with around 50A/+12V for cards like the 8800GTS, as the output from all PSUs deteriorates over time.
You say it's your company's policy to not register products. Have you tried contacting EVGA to see if they can offer you a cheap replacement even though the card is not registered? I'm sure if you make a fuss they could come to some sort of arrangement with you rather than lose a customer. Maybe you could send them the card to be tested. If the problem is due to a faulty part on the card rather than general wear and tear they might even replace it for free.

Re: EVGA video card brand poor quality for me
Thanks Koala
I'll give a try tomorrow, but I already wrote them several mails and the answer is the same: no solutions for a 1 year old no registered in the first 30 days video card. I will try to talk a supervisor and see what he can do, but 3 contacts already didn't help me or give me a possible solution, just like U did ( maybe if they gave some alternatives I won't be so frustrate with that company ), like I said till today not a good experience. Will wee... |
