Is this problem my monitor or video card.... or both?
I am using a ViewSonic E773 monitor and a ATI 32mg video card. i can never view pictures properly. I need more Brightness/Contrast out of my monitor but I already have both settings at full. I can see fine but it still needs more.
Any suggestions???? I am using the correct drivers for both.

Hi,
Have you tried going to Start, Control panel, Display, Settings, Screen resolution and setting your resultion up to a higher level. This will improve your viewing acuity in those areas quite a lot. The higher the resolution, the better and clearer the images should be. I doubt if this is set properly that you will need the contrast and brightness up to full. Hi,
What I would do is set it up one notch and see how that works for what you need in sharpness. If you click advanced on that same screen, you can move the DPI setting up to compensate for the smaller screen with the higher screen resolution. Just move the resolution up a little and then the other one (DPI) a little to compensate and then try it and see if it helps your situation. Always note what the defaults are when you change anything. Hope this helps. You will have to go out and try it a few times to get it where you want it. For example, move the Resolution to 1024 x 768 and the DPI to 104/105 and see if that works for you. You just have to experiment with these two to get it exactly like you want it. For a ViewSonic E773 and your video board, 1152X864 is probably a good resolution. As mark3567 pointed out, you can adjust the size of the screen using the ATI tabs in the "Advanced" part of the "Display Properties" dialog. You can also adjust the size of the image using the buttons on the front of your monitor. And make sure you set the monitor refresh rate to the highest rate it can support on the "Monitor" tab in the "Advanced" tabs.
There's no way you should have a brightness/contrast problem unless you monitor is completely shot. Try adjusting the brightness and contrast using the controls on the "ATI Color" tab in the "Advanced" part of the "Display Properties". Using the brightness slider on the "ATI Color" tab, I can take my monitor from way too dark to way too bright. |
