nVidia 6600GT AGP crashes when exiting game
I bought a fancy new computer a couple of weeks ago but I have been disappointed by a wierd crash that keeps occurring.
I can play games without any trouble, but when I exit back to windows, more often than not my desktop will flash on the screen for a second, then go black, then I get a blue screen with an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL error. after recieving this error many times (I like to play games, but you gotta exit sometime), the error reports came back blaming the nVidia driver. Here are my specs: AMD Athlon64 3500+ ASUS A8V Deluxe 1gb kingmax memory Leadtek Winfast A6600GT (this is the agp version of the 6600) PSU: Antech 380W TruePower I have tried switching around nVidia drivers, I started with the driver that came with the card (66.93), tried the nvidia driver off the net (66.93), and now I'm back to the ones that came with the card. Perhaps I will try the beta drivers (67.03) today - but this isn't a bug they claim to fix. The games I have experienced this error with are - Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Thief: Deadly Shadows Has anybody else ever had this kind of an error? |

I have a 6800GT and crashed when exiting Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. My symptoms were an immediate reboot followed by an annoying Windows serious error dialog box w/ looked to be a partial CPU register dump.
I was using NVidia's 66.93 drivers. I switched to the 61.76 drivers (the first version w/ 6800GT support) and my problem has vanished. I suggest you "backrev" your video drivers. Others have reported that 61.77 drivers also are more stable. |
