which is better?
hi, i need help deciding which video card is better...
i only have PCI slots ( i thought about upgrading with a new motherboard but it was too expensive and too big of a hassle) anywayz, i thought the Geforce FX 5700LE was the best out there.. here are 2 of them: http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproduc...MP=OTC-17exta6 http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduc...140-041&depa=1 from what i read, if the 5700LE isnt a 128-bit, then it is half the performance of a 5600 or 5500, i dont remember.. so thx! |

The page with the Apollo 5700LE doesnt specifically state if its 128 or 64 bit and memory clock speed isnt mentioned either.
Just make sure they give you the 128bit version cause there is a cheaper one out there with just 64bit and mix ups like that with gfx cards happen all the time. If the Apollo is 128bit and clocked the same as the Jaton i doubt you could see any performance diffrence.

Well there's always this. 5600s aren't manufactured anymore but you can scare them up from time to time.
Where did you get the info which said that the Jaton 5700LE was 64 bit? According to Jaton's website: • 0.13 Micron Process Technology • 4 pixels per clock rendering engine • 128-bit, studio-quality floating point percision through the entire graphics pipeline • Native support for 128-bit floating point, 64-bit floating point and 32-bit integer rendering modes • Up to 16 textures per pass • Support for sRGB texture compression • Graphics Core: 256-bit • Memory Bandwidth: 8.8GB/sec • Fill rate: 1.7 billion texels/sec • Vertical rate: 319 million/sec The 8.8GB/sec is clearly 128 bits wide although if it's really running at 400MHz as newegg claims then it should be 6.4GB/sec. In trying to determine the memory bandwidth on the Apollo 5700LE I found a couple of websites which claimed 128 bits but I could never find more direct information. |
