BSOD/Crashes with EN8800GT
1. Introduction
Hi there and thank you for taking the time to read this post. This issue I'm about to describe is bugging me since the start and is getting progressively worse at the moment, hence my reason to start posting it here. 2. Specifications Let me first start off with the specifications of my self build system; Motherboard: Asus P5N-T Deluxe Graphics Card: ASUS Geforce EN8800GT 512MB, PCI-e 16x CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3,16Ghz, 1333Mhz, 6MB HDD: Western Digital Raptor 150GB, 10.000 rpm, 16MB, S-ATA/150 Power Supply: Nexus Technology NX-8060 600 Watt Memory: Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5 G 4GB, PC6400, 800Mhz (Kit of 2) Everything is running normal so no overclocking or anything. OS is both Windows Vista SP1 aswell as Windows XP SP2. 3. Problems Problems are Blue Screens of Dead and complete hangs without BSOD. The first thing worth knowing is that after it hangs I need to use the power button to restart, if I use the reset button the Harddrive wont appear as a boot option. Crashes usually happen working with large files in photoshop, but also games as Crysis and Red Alert 3 haven given me issues. But it could also happen randomly browsing some flash site. BSOD's I've gotten over time are; Code:
--- KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR STOP: 0x0000007A acpi.sys --- STOP: 0x000000F4 --- KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR STOP: 0x00000077 --- KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR STOP: 0x0000007A ntfs.sys --- STOP: 0x000000EA nv4_disp --- ![]() ![]() Sometimes you know "the hang" is coming i.e. working with photoshop and opening a large file it photoshop goes unresponsive after some clicking around trying to close applications and/or photoshop will however still result in a hang without bsod. 3D Mark 06 runs fine it will sometimes still hang but its not like it`ll crash instantly. I recently installed ATI Tool and using the 3D View or the Artefact Finder it takes around 2 till max. 10 minutes before it hangs with an 0x000000F4 BSOD. Installing a new video driver once "seemed" to have helped a bit but its going downhill now. For system logs files the only things popping up are ofcourse the BSOD notice and warnings like this; http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=51&source=Disk Thats about all I can give you about my problems, random bits and a very unstable system sometimes it wont even boot or show the bios screen. 4. Tested Of course I've tested a few things myself but not done any physical part swapping. Tested memory with MemTest86 for like 20 hours without an error, swapped out both sticks. (So running 1 stick at a time didn't improve.) Tested HDD with Western Digital Diagnostic Tools which passed it also HDTune Error Scan doesnt give any errors. Regards, verbat1m |

Get the bios updated to the latest , it does mention video corruption.
