Matrox G200 question
Hey all,
I have a PC with motherboard: BIOSTAR Group GF7025-M2 and Windows XP SP3 installed on it. I also have a Matrox G200 PCI card. Actually, I am not completely sure about the model. It says "MGI G2+ /QUAD-PL/TVE" ib the card. I need the proper drivers for it. Every driver I tried (From Matrox website and other sources) installed fine but when I try to change my display settings to use the card it says that the driver is not compatible with my current version of Windows because it has been written for a previous one. I have a friend who used that same card 2 years ago and it worked fine. Is it possible that Service pack 3 no longer supports it? |

Re: Matrox G200 question
Are you using the 5.96.004 drivers?

Re: Matrox G200 question
Sorry for the delayed post, I had some difficulties uploading the following screenshots.
Okay here's the first one, these are all the displays I can choose from: ![]() The first display of the matrox card can display only 640 by 480 pixels as seen on the second screenie. I can't change the resolution at all. Also, what's more important is the error that made me think I have a driver problem. So here it is: ![]() And the last shows the weird resolution that the other 3 displays think they can use: ![]() Hope this gives you a clue. Have a good one. |

Re: Matrox G200 question
I have not disabled an onboard video adapter before. From what I found out when looking on the Internet it's done with jumpers. However, when I read my motherboard manual there was nothing mentioned about VGA on the jumper section (at least I didn't see it).
I had some success though. I entered BIOS and told it to first try the PCI adapter and then the onboard one and after a restart my matrox graphic card worked fine until Windows was loaded. You are probably right that it conflicts with the Nvidia drivers so what I will try now is to uninstall them and see what happens .

Re: Matrox G200 question
Thanks a lot for your help. Uninstalling the Nvidia drivers did the trick and now I am using the Matrox card. However now comes the really hard part: is it possible to capture video signal from an old VCR with it, because that's why I installed that card in the first place.

Re: Matrox G200 question
The card should have a Coaxial input on the back that you can hook to the vcr, Not sure if it has a built in tuner if it does you'll need to set it to channel 3 or 4 to match the VCR output.

Re: Matrox G200 question
Actually I am using a RCA cable to connect the video out of the VCR to the video input of my Matrox. So far I've tried with the official video tools for Matrox cards found right here ftp://ftp.matrox.com/pub/mga/archive...1/w2kvt204.exe
When you start the software you first need to use a wizard to help you establish the proper connection with your VCR. It lets you automatically search through frequencies so that you find the video signal. While I am searching for the VCR frequency I pushed play so that there is video output. The problem is that it cannot find anything on these frequencies. Does anyone have any idea if that's even possible(the VCR is quite old now). Please tell me if you need any more information. P.S. I am sure that there is output from it because I managed to get audio signal that's coming in my sound card's line in. Last edited by Bodwin; 05-12-2009 at 11:20 PM. |
