[SOLVED] Geforce 8600 GT issue
Okay, I recently formatted and reinstalled Windows a couple of days ago. I downloaded and installed all of the latest drivers for my hardware.
The problem I am having is when I am playing a game, especially World of Warcraft. When I turn my camera or turn my character in a 360 degree motion, the screen lags up and starts to skip frames. It seems to run smooth with no problems as long as I don't turn my camera. I was not having this problem before in reinstalled Windows. I have tried with my settings on max and also as low as I could get them and the problem is the same. I have even tried older games that require less resources and still the same problem. System: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+, MMX, 3DNow (2 CPUs), ~2.3GHz 2048MB RAM DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904) NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT 256.0 MB |

Re: Geforce 8600 GT issue
Wanted to add.
I tried to play Star Wars Jedi Knight II and on the main menu there is a spinning 3D star wars symbol and when I would move the mouse back and forth, it would cause the frame rate to skip and that symbol to stop spinning and just lag. When I stopped moving the mouse, everything ran smooth. Entered the game and had the same problems. Only happens when I try to turn the camera to look around. |

Re: Geforce 8600 GT issue
It almost sounds like cpu lagg. I had a similar experience in gta4. You have tried the dual core optimizer? Are you running any other cpu intensive tasks (anti virus programs , firewalls , downloads)?

Re: Geforce 8600 GT issue
For the AMD dual Core optimizer there's a download link and its the light blue/green word download
What CPU drivers? The only driver you need for your CPU is the dual core optimizer the rest is unnecessary. Do you know how to install the GPU driver? |

Since it's a fresh install, I don't have a lot of programs running in the background. I do have a security suite running though. Trend Micro Internet Security. |

Advanced Micro Devices 8/10/2007 1.0.0.0 Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher One thing I did find kind of strange though, was the driver version before update was greater than 1.0.0.0 but the date was around 2004 or 05. After I updated, the version went down but the date was earlier 2007. EDIT: I went into safe mode, uninstalled my GPU driver, rebooted, came back and installed the new one. |

Re: Geforce 8600 GT issue
ha ha, oh wow.
You mentioned the anti-virus. I clicked it off from the taskbar and bam, games runs so smooth now. So dumb that I didn't think to try that before I came on here.I thank you for your time and help. Sorry I didn't try that first. You gentlemen have a good one.
