GeForce 9600 GSO not being picked up
Me and my dad both put together a custom PC today so I could have one of my own. It includes:
Antec Earthwatts 500W PSU AMD 7750 2.7GHz AM2+ Dual Core Processor 2x1GB of 1066 Dual Channel RAM GeForce 9600 GSO 512Mgb A780GM-A ECS Black Series Motherboard Now, everything seems to be working fine. I can feed an S-Video cable through my card to my HDTV and get a (really crappy) image, and having no digital audio at this point is understandable as I have *no* audio cables connected to the TV. My main problem is that the GeForce 9600 GSO is not being picked up. At all. I went into the Mobo's BIOS and switched something to PCI-E. Didn't fix it. It appears as though the system is just defaulting to the onboard chipset and completely ignoring the card I put into it, and it's rather annoying. Must I update the BIOS first to see any Display Adapter options? I have access to the Internet (thankfully) and I'm open to any options on that. I double checked to make sure the pins of the card were fit securely into the PCI-E slot, nothing seems to be wrong, it's a brand new card straight out of the box, but I can't for the life of me get the computer to realize it's even *in* there. Oh, and as a small additional question, assuming I finally get the 9600 to function in this thing right, will I only need a DVI to HDMI cable to get some workable video on my TV? I know I'll still need to fiddle with the display settings and drivers, but I'm getting the necessities out of the way first. Last edited by SubTonic20; 05-07-2009 at 08:40 PM. |

Re: GeForce 9600 GSO not being picked up
Update the motherboards bios to the latest and give it a shot.
However , that board uses an on board ati gpu that will conflict with the nvidia card. It is always recommended to never mix ati and nvidia products on the same machine. If you must use the 9600 do not have any of the on board ati gpu drivers installed. If updating the bios doesn't work then you should opt for an ati solution.

I will try that. And if you'll look here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...ywords=GeForce
It seems that many people are able to use their GeForce cards on this thing, so it has to be possible. I just need to know how to get this ATI thing off and get it to recognize my GeForce. I'll go update the BIOS now and let you know if that works. Oh, and try to get the ATI drivers off. Problem is, I'm not sure which ones those are...I see this Legacy stuff for video down in the Sound and Video field in Device Manager...Hmm. Well...I checked the various BIOS updates for the motherboard and none of them seem to pertain to the problem I'm having. I really don't get it...how are those people running a GeForce on this thing when it clearly refuses to do so with me? ![]() I may send it back in and get a different Mobo, because this is becoming really hopeless really fast. I don't have too much experience with PC hardware and my dad is hesitant to mess with the thing, and I'd have to agree there. Hopefully that 30 day return policy of Newegg's will save my hide here, because I can't afford to fork out another 80-100 bucks for a proper Mobo. If anybody here could recommend a good Mobo for the PC I listed above, that'd be really nice. I'm trying to connect this "dream PC" to my 26" Toshiba HDTV as well, so keep that in mind.
