Asus V9570 Gamer Edition (256 MB) - Inverted colours

Hello :)

I've had this problem since not long after a new graphics card (Asus V9570 GE) was bought for my PC:

Every now and then I get inverted colours when I'm playing games. I lot of things appear red, other things just plain blocks of other colours.

I'll upload a screenshot to my website so you can get a better idea if necessary:
http://games-master.hostage.biz/NFSU_Wrong_Display.jpg

I've been able to remove the problem by re-installing the drivers every day or two, which is a lot of hassle...

I'll give you a few PC specs incase you need them:

Processor: AMD Athlon 1800+
RAM: 2x 256MB
Graphics card: ASUS V9570 Gamers Edition
Monitor: LG Studioworks 773E (17 Inch)
Motherboard chip: VIA

I'll try to answer any questions you might ask

I'd even be glad if you could just give me a link to some referance :)

Many many thanks to anybody trying to help

Need For Speed, nice.

Usually this kind of thing is an indication of overheating. Is the fan on the card spinning?

I don't really recommend doing this, but this is how I guage mine: I feel the heatsink during idle and then fire up a game and after maybe four minutes feel it again. I can't really describe the threshold where it should be, I just compare it to the CPU and if it's hotter than that, I consider it a problem.

I doubt it's anything to do with overheating, cos the powersupply is new and has got nice big heatsink and a fan...

I'll see whether anything is happening on the card.

Thanks for the quick response

I didn't do so because the ASUS graphics card uses the NVidia drivers that I already had on my PC. I used to have an NVidia MX500 (MX something anyway)

I've downloaded multiple things from ASUS' site and none of the things have fixed it forever...

with nvidia you need to uninstall one set of drivers before installing another set,if you ran the asus setup and it installed a different version they are most likely conflicting

alright then, I'll try removing the old drivers and reinstalling them again.

I do suppose the BETA drivers should work...I'd better install the 66.72 that I got on the CD with graphics card first to be sure :)

vga mode? When I try F8 it asks what disk to boot from. I've tried it without doing that but problem is back again to haunt me.

something has realigned your f8 key,i struck this problem when avg took it for it's own use,not being able to find what had caused it i found by rebooting and rebooting windows would force it's way back to the options menu
do it by using safe mode but when windows finishes booting and asks to reload the driver's,select no
disable a/virus and then install your drivers
you can get into safe mode without the options menu by ticking the safe boot box in msconfig, but it will keep starting in safe mode until you go back in and untick the box

Sounds like it will definately work :) So it's the safe mode you mean, I think that's F5 here...if it's not fixed today then I'll have to do it when I'm back from holiday.

Angry Bad News

Hmm, I've tried this 2 or 3 times and the problem keeps returning :(

I tried with VGA Mode and with Safe Mode, disabling Anti-virus...

Yet again red and other inverted coloured things

The kind of corruption you have in your earlier image is almost always caused by overheating or a weak video board. Does it go away when you open the case and have a fan blow on the video board? You can also use RivaTuner to try to underclock the video board. If the fan or underclocking fixes the problem, then either you have a weak board, or you need to improve your cooling.

video board? Is that refering to a part of the motherboard??

The power supply is a new one with 350W and the PC stays cool.

I'll try those links and see if underclocking the card works...

thx for the feedback

video caard=what your monitor cable plugs into on the back of the computer
list your system specs including brand of power supply
my 9520 card would not run with a 350w supply

there will be a label on the side of the power supply with the details, most likely generic supply
check your power requirements here
http://www.jscustompcs.com/power_supply/
based on a quality supply add 30% to the result
for what you have i would use at least a 450w quality but would recommend a 550w quality

It suggests 337 Watts and I'd like to get a higher power one but I doubt my parents will get a new one as the one we've got now is quite new, bought only one month ago. There's 550W quality one for SFr. 120 (About $100)
