I have a non-integrated eVGA nVidia 8500GT that i installed post-purchase. When I start up any game, weather it be from steam or running from a disk, the game gets really choppy and laggy after about a minute into gameplay. It just started today. The computer has been running smoothly until now. I am currently running an avast scan of the computer to see if there is spyware and to make sure this is not the first sign of imminent failure. I have also updated the graphics drivers. This only postponed the choppy behavior. The hardware diagnostics tool said the card passed and had no errors or failures. My PC is about 2 years old and is out of factory warranty. I also have a linksys internet card. My main theory is that i may be overloading the power-pack when gaming however i have no way of proving this. Here's the specs of my pc if it helps:
HP a6130n 3GB RAM AMD athalon X2 5000+ (2.6 GHz) 32 bit vista home premium with service pack 1 Any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Re: eVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT problems
First of all, what card were you using previous to this card? Did you disable the old video card before installing this one? Please report these details back and also include the brand name and wattage of your power supply so we can match the output with the needs of your video card.

Re: eVGA NVIDIA GeForce 8500GT problems
The Card I Had before was the NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE, and yes I uninstalled the other driver first. The power Supply is a HPs 250 watt power supply.
