Cry 8500 gt 512 mb crashes

i have an 8500 gt 512 mb.when i play any game for ex-godfather2 gta 4 undercover half life 2 spiderman 3....any game my computer hangs or freezes and i have to restart my computer .i checked my gpu temp --it says 78 c
my graphics card is overheating .is there a way to remove this overheating.
i want to know how to underclock my video card . is it be of any help?
my specs
intel core 2 duo 2.4 ghz cpu
2gb ram
intel 945 mobo
smps-450w

Is the fan on the card still spinning? What is the case cooling setup? Whats the room temperature?

In the past we have had people leave there pc's in a closed cabinet or next to a furnace and not figure out why they were overheating.

you can use rivatuner and up the fan speed to 60% and it should fix te overheating issue if your graphics card fan is working
