9800 GTX and driver issues...
Copied from my post at the GRID forums, before i realized it's an nvidia error, not GRID error.
https://community.codemasters.com/fo...d.php?t=347847 PC System specs: Q8200- OC'd @ 3.0 GHz GA-EP45-UD3R Real power Pro 750 Watt 9800 GTX (stock frequencies, 100% fan override) Hauppauge HVR-1600 TV Tuner card 640 GB SATAII Caviar Black HDD w/ 32 MB Cache (primary) 320 GB SATAII Caviar HDD w/ 16 MB Cache (secondary) Lite-On DVD-RW SATAII optical drive Antec 900 case 2 x 2GB OCZ SLI DDR2-800 PC2-6400 22" Widescreen LCD (primary) 19" 5:4 LCD (secondary) crashes quite randomly. sometimes in themiddle of a race, sometimes and the root menu pulls up, always on close (but i read that's normal). For What it's worth, the game can't get past the loading screen if the CPU is at stock frequency (2.33 GHz) hence the OC. Also, in the times that it doesn't crash, it will average between 80 and 90 FPS, then drop to 6 or 7 FPS for 2-3 seconds before going back to normal. I currently have the game running at 1280x800 refresh rate: 60 multisampling: off Vsync: off Aspect: normal Gamma: 1.2 Wind, shadow, particle, crowd, driver, blur, skidmarks, cloth: OFF Headlights, LOD, trees, reflections, damage: LOW Sound H/W accelerations: ON one crash report (GRID fault) Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: GRID.exe Application Version: 1.2.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4863839e Fault Module Name: GRID.exe Fault Module Version: 1.2.0.0 Fault Module Timestamp: 4863839e Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 007e440e OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8d13 Additional Information 2: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Additional Information 3: 8d13 Additional Information 4: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Second crash report (nvidia fault) Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: GRID.exe Application Version: 1.2.0.0 Application Timestamp: 4863839e Fault Module Name: nvd3dum.dll Fault Module Version: 7.15.11.8250 Fault Module Timestamp: 49cd2695 Exception Code: c0000005 Exception Offset: 0033dae1 OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1 Locale ID: 1033 Additional Information 1: 8d13 Additional Information 2: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 Additional Information 3: 8d13 Additional Information 4: cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311 http://www.magnethead794.com/DxDiag.txt NVIDIA CP settings: antisotropic filtering: off antialiasing - gamma correction: on antialiasing - mode: off antialiasing - transparency: off conformant texture clamp: use hardware error reporting: off extension limit: on force mipmaps: trilinear Maximum pre-rendered frames: 8 Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration: Multiple Display performance mode texture filtering - anisotropic sample optimization: on texture filtering - negative LOD bias: Allow texture filtering - quality: high performance texture filtering - trilinear optimization: on threaded optimization: on triple buffering: on vertical sync: use 3D app setting PhysX GPU acceleration: enabled here's a screen shot of right before it crashed (the FPS dropped so i grabbed one while i could) click thumbnail for full size. ![]() nvlddmkm is also coming up in the system tray as a crashed driver every few times, to go with nvd3dum.dll from the crash report. Last time i played the game, after a few minutes of playing, the game went into 90% artifacts. I used alt + F4 to get out of the game before the VRAM was damaged. But windows desktop was still 90% artifacts. I managed to shut windows down, and it was artifacted all the way till power off. Rebooted, and was fine. Is this a GRID issue, nvidia driver issue, or a little of both? What are "8d13" and "cdca9b1d21d12b77d84f02df48e34311" ??
