Video Card Broken
Recently my video card stopped working (I got 2 fast 1 long beep error) I tried re setting the card and RAMs as well as reset BIOS but still got the beeps. I later tried a different GFX card in my comp and it is working now.
I have a Thermal take purepwoer 500w psu. The broken GFX card is 8600 GT 512MB. My system is an HP Q6600 vista This is my 1st card to break so I'm wondering if there's any common reason why it broke after only about 6 months? also, this may sound stupid, but is there any way to fix it? ![]() Also, if I'm going to replace it; what are some good cards that can run off that psu without any problems? Oh is there any tips to make vista run faster? it is loading slower and runs programs slower now that my HD is a little over half full, 190 of 320 gb

Re: Video Card Broken
The best way to test the 8600 would be to try it in another machine to see if it still functions. It may have possibly overheated. See if the fan is still spinning.
As for a possible replacement I would not go any higher then a geforce 9500 on that power supply. The efficiency on the pure powers isn't very good. A 9500 with 512 of ddr3 would be good. Yes use xp. Vista is unecessarily hard on computers , even at it's best it still will bog down a system more so then just using xp.
