please help. what is wrong with my computer?

I've got an Asus EN9600GT 512mg card, no glaciour fan just a stock model i assume (the actual card is slim and semi encased in plastic with the petals picture on it).

i've had the card for ages now. and i've always had trouble with it and my whole computer in general. now that i've come into some money i can get it fixed, but for my own sanity i want to know if anyone can tell me what the problem with my comp is.

the parts to my lemon comp are.

Case: Antec 900 gaming tower.
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Extreme
CPU: INtel Core 2 Quad 2.40ghz Q6600
RAM: 4gig DDR3 Corsair
GPU: Asus EN9600GT 512mg ddr3 (connected via Dvi to HMDI to a Philips 42' Lcd)
Internal HDD: Seagate 200gig
DVD-RW
EXTERNAL HDDS: 1x 1TB Western digital. 1x 500gig Western Digitial
additonal usb plugs: - Wacom Intuos4
- Wireless Mouse/Keyboard
Power Supply: 500w

i mention the power supply last as i have a feeling the people who built my comp in the first place didn't think all those parts would use 500w of power.

so my problem is firstly, why if i have 10 tonne of fans working on my computer does my computer crash after playing video games for while (20-40mins... temps of around 80c) and is currently sitting at 49c (everest temps) whilst doing nothing other than using the web.

the other odd thing is while watching videos, or doing art the screen with go black, but i can still hear the music playing or the windows sounds to indicate that everything is still working despite the screen going off.

my question is, are both of these problems connected to the power supply i've got? or is my over heating and occasional random video connection drop out more to do with my gfx card going defective?

any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Re: please help. what is wrong with my computer?

i would be running a quality 550w

if the temp is for your video card it is not a problem

if it is for the cpu it is a problem
