Question on PCI-E

Well I have a PCI-Express 1.0 (x16), and I need help to find a video card that would work on this slot... I've tried Google and most of the video cards where PCI-Express 2.0.

Also I have another question, is PC Wizard actually accurate?
On where it says Bus PCI-Express it says it's Version is 1.0.

Here's the link to my Motherboard's specifications :

Re: Question on PCI-E

Since it's using an nvidia chipset you can install pci-e 2.0 cards in the 1.0 slot. Do you need a videocard for something?

Re: Question on PCI-E

PCI-E 2.0 is fully backward compatable. features reserved for PCI-E 2.0 will not work on a PCI-E x16 interface.
many PCI-E 2.0 cards have advanced power off and power down functions

Re: Question on PCI-E

Well the main reason I need a graphics card is to mainly be able to play games on my computer. So because I already have a intergrated GeForce 7050 and a PCI-Express 1.0 will I be able to fit in a 2.0 Graphics Card?

Re: Question on PCI-E

But I heard that "An important thing to note is that most video cards that are designed for 2.0 will NOT work in 1.0 slots."
So I'm actually planning to buy a GeForce in the 8000 or 9000 series but I'm not actually sure how big my slot is... do I have to open my computer or should I be able to fit it in a x16 1.0 slot?

Re: Question on PCI-E

the actual slot size is the same between PCI-E x16 and 2.0.
the cards itself however can be bigger. not to confuse you but that really only applies to the upper 9xxx (9800GTX and 9800GTX+) cards and the GTX2xx cards.

Re: Question on PCI-E

Make sure your getting a proper powersupply aswell. Oem systems have terrible stock powersupplies that will not be able to power high end cards.
