EEK! video card questions from a not so savvy user

OK guys, here's the deal. I have an hp a6700f, all is fine except the video card, this I would like to upgrade. OK, I know I want ATI, 4830 or 4850, PCI ex 16, and DVI. Here's what I don't know (alot) As I am looking at cards on Newegg, I am not sure which to get, as there are a lot of other specs listed with each card. Is PCI ex 2.0 x16 the same as PCI ex 16? Is there anything else I should be looking at. I have an HP Pavilon a6700f. I spoke with an HP rep and he said it is upgradable and that there is a PCI express slot. Not sure if i have all of this right, and sure could use a little guidance, thanks.

Nobody?, I just want to be sure I buy the right card, I definitely do not want to spend that much money and have the wrong card.

Do you have the standard power supply in the computer right now?

Heres the 4850 (its a better buy)

Your computer right now won't be able to power it, you will need to upgrade the power supply. There is no possible way around it, if you don't do it your stuck with the whatever you have in it right now.

So here would be a good PSU for you. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...609&CatId=2533

That will serve you well and also will be great for future upgrades.

Re: video card questions from a not so savvy user

Hey thanks a lot for your time, I am pretty sure I can install the card myself, however the power supply is a different story, how does that work exactly, is it external? Stupid question I know, but I truly have no idea, I am just recently getting into the nuts and bolts of computers, but learning quickly.

Also will that 4850 enable my computer to play Blue Ray DVD's, I was just reading the specs, and it peaked my curiosity. The HP Rep said I would need to install something else to play Blue Rays.
