ati laptop gfx problems
I recently purchased a laptop with an ATI mobility Radeon HD 3650 512mb gfx card. The problem is the laptop will not run games smoothly on a decent setting. Ive tried Team Fortress 2 on the lowest settings and it is still jumpy. Even on counter strike source it can just about run it on medium settings.
I know this laptop should run these 2 games on the highest settings with ease as i've played them on laptops with far worse gfx cards. Ive tried installing the newest drivers for the gfx cards but it hasn't made any diference. Has anyone got any other ideas? |

Re: ati laptop gfx problems
How long ago was the machine purchased , you can take it back and have them fix it or get your money back. Usually we just tell people that have problems with new machines to just return it , it suppose to work perfectly when it's new.
The problem most likely is just vista bogging it down , that and not very good driver support , bad cooling , ect.... Usually "gaming" laptops have these problems. I always say , "If you need a portable computer , get a used laptop. If you need a gaming machine , get a desktop". You can try ending any cpu intensive tasks in the task manager to lighten the cpu load. You should also try xp as well.
