Strange bug wile playing some games
Hello
i would appreciate if someone in this forum could help me out. My computer crashes wile playing games like GTAIV, Assassins Greed, etc. saying freq is out of range or my monitor just shows some strange pixels all over the screen. But if iam playing World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, Starcraft everything works just fine. My driver are all uptodate and i did no overclocking System: OS: Windows XP 32 SP3 CPU: Phenom X4 9550 Grafik: Ati Radeon HD 4850 Mainboard: Asus M2N-XE HDD: 2 Hitachi IDE PSU: HEC 400 AR-PTF RAM: 2x1gb Kingston DDR2 800 I did a memtest and everything went fine. I wonder if the PSU is cause of the crash. Because i tried almost everything google could tell thanks in advance |

Re: Strange bug wile playing some games
Out of range is usually related to the refresh rate set on the monitor.
But with a HD4850 I would expect to see a Quality 650w or higher PSU, I think your 400w is under powering the card when pushed. |

Re: Strange bug wile playing some games
With the system under load and the card at peak draw that's what it needs to be stable, as they age they loose power and the components draw more it's known as Capacitor Aging, plus you don't want to run the PSU at 100% of it's capacity that will cause premature failure and voltage fluctuations that are detrimental to the other components in your PC.
Do you have a less powerful video card to test with? |
