ATI videocard / monitor problem
hey people
last year i bought a ATI Radeon 2600 XT card all is well, and it works completely normal, but i have a problem that continues on and on, at the worst times it happens when i'm working on my computer, the screen often freezes. normally, it just re-boots my screen, and then everything is fine again (untill it freezes again) now, just recently i found a prog that detects what causes the problem, and whenever it freezes i get this message: "VPU recoverer has reset your graphics accelerator as it was no longer responding to graphics driver commands" i have no idea what it means, and google does not give me any answers either. back at the freezing part, when it doesnt recover back to windows, the monitor on/off button blinks, and i don't see anything on the screen but saying "Mono / Digital" Just also found out my PC keeps running normally (music plays when i strike a key), just the screen blacks out I have no idea what i should do about this, and i'm beginning to get real sick of it. some info below, don't know what people should like to know.. driver: latest ATI driver for 2600 ... as for my screen itself: Samsung Syncmaster 931BF connected by 2 cables. one for power, one to my pc Last edited by Pithune; 03-27-2009 at 12:27 PM. |

Re: ATI videocard / monitor problem
Hi and welcome to the forum!
First, mind the language This is a family forum. Reinstall the ATI software that came with the card first.

Re: ATI videocard / monitor problem
Thanks for doing that. Well, has this happened since you installed the card, and progressively gotten worse, or did it start somewhere along the way?

Re: ATI videocard / monitor problem
Lets try reseating the card first. Also make sure everything is clean in there, and the connectors are clean. Cheap way to clean them is with an eraser.

Re: ATI videocard / monitor problem
hey, sorry for the late reaction
before trying this, won't the drivers on my PC flip out? - they usually lose the connection to the hardware once it is disconnected/unplugged i don't want to get into trouble re-installing everything either |
