Video Card Continued
It appears my thread from yesterday has went MIA. But yesterday I stated that I think my card stopped working after the computer locked up and numerous yellow horizontal lines appeared on screen. After restarting my display was divided up unevenly 8 different times on the screen. At that point I couldn't even get Vista to launch. After reformatting my computer I was able to get into windows. It has a blue static on all the displays. I'm using a Qosmio F50 with Vista 32 bit. At first I thought my graphics card was broke but since I was able to get windows to run I'm assuming that it is still working. I downloaded and installed driver updates for my GeForce 8400m. After restarting the problem persisted and I was no longer able to get windows to run. So I'm basically wondering if this has happened to anyone else or if anyone has advice I could use. I'm currently guessing it has something to do with the graphics processor but I'm not 100% sure. I also cleaned out the laptop so it's pretty much dust free. I'm also 3 months out of the warranty so sending it back is out of the question.

Re: Video Card Continued
first off please try not to bump before at least 48 hours
second try running ATI tool to see if your card is indeed artifacting http://www.techpowerup.com/atitool/ I would phone I guess HP support right and see how much it would cost to fix the laptop RMA it or whatever |
