Can't find enough power
Hi all,
I recently brought a Galaxy Geforce 9600GT slim line video card, it had to be the slim version to fit my slim Dell case. My power supply unit has only 250w and this card apparently needs 400w. I can’t find a TFX PSU that has more than 350w. Can the Geforce 9600GT run with a 350w power supply? Does a 400w TFX unit even exist? I assumed when I brought the card it did because why would there even be a slim version on the card if no PSU existed to power it. Can anyone help? I have a Dell inspiron 531s with AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 4400+ 2.31Ghz, 2GB ram and Vista. |

Re: Can't find enough power
This is the main problem with the 9600 slim.
As far as I know there is no high end slim line power supply that can run it. For a 9600 it actually needs 550w watts in reality , and a 6 pin pci-e connector. Never trust what it says on the box as a power supply requirement. I honestly don't know why they make a slimline 9600 as this is an obvious problem. The best I can say is either buy a full sized dell case on ebay , or just simply get a full sized power supply and mount it on the outside of the case.
