New video card, no signal

I have had an HP Elite m9152p for several months. I recently purchased a new graphics card for it. I also got a new psu. The MOBO is an Asus IPIBL-LB, graphics card is a PNY Nvidea 9800 gtx+ 512 MB PCI-E. The psu has plenty of power and the correct connections. When I finished installing both, i turned on and got no signal to my monitor. The old video card was also PCI-E on same port. Computer seems to be booting normally. Hard drives sound like they are spinning, all fans are running, power supply lights up and fan runs. I figured there was a driver issue or something, so i put old geforce 8500 gs card back in, and still nothing. The mobo does have on board graphics, but the vga port came with a cover screwed on over it. I removed the cover and tried that too, still nothing. I'm at a complete loss here. Anyone have some thoughts?

-update- I hooked up my ethernet cable and turned it on. Still no image, but I am able to access all of my shared folders from my laptop, so its definitely booting properly. Why am I not getting a video signal?

Re: New video card, no signal

Whats the make ad model of the power supply.

As a temporary fix to get the 8500 working you could try a bios reset. there will either be a jumper for it , or you can remove the power cable and clock battery for 5 minutes.

Re: New video card, no signal

Well, i pulled the battery for 20 minutes, then tried, still the same.

Then I used the jumpers to clear the cmos and still nothing.

The psu is a rocketfish 550w rocketfish.

Re: New video card, no signal

And you can confirm that it's booting? Are you able to transfer files between the machines? If you can move a file from one to the other then it may not be posting.

I can try to help you get the 8500 working again , but that rocketfish isn't good enough for that 9800.

Re: New video card, no signal

well, i can stream a video out of the shared folder on the desktop.

i don't see why the psu wouldn't be enough. i upgraded from a 300 to a 550 to handle the new video card, even if it isn't the best psu that should be enough shouldn't it?

but if you could help me get anything working at this point you will be my personal hero.
