Graphics Solutions (260 vs 295 vs 285)
Alright...
So here's what I need to know, I was looking at the GTX 260 SLI, considering I have a GTX 260 as of now. (core 216). However I was also looking at a single card solution, the 295 or the 285. Now what I've heard is that games that do not support SLI, well, it wouldn't do me much good to have SLI'd graphics on a game that doesn't work well with it. So looking at that and looking at another major thing for me: Cost. I've already bought this card here, now I could sell it, turn it into a sculpture, eat it, whatever, but that doesn't change the fact that I already have one. And I also need to emphasize that I WILL need a new power supply. I'm stressing the one I have now. The one I have considered several times is in the link following. Now what I want to know is what will be more cost effective and overall serve me better between the three (260 SLI, 295, or 285). Oh, I've also pretty much identified that the 295 is 260 SLI (Or close to it) in one pretty little package. (Ha, little.) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 |

Re: Graphics Solutions (260 vs 295 vs 285)
Well the most cost effective thing would be to not buy a card at all , simply because your moving to the "tons of money , little performance increase" area. Moving from a midrange card to a high end card shows great performance increases , but moving from a high end card to a slightly higher end card just costs a lot and , well , not much difference in performance.
Setting aside the extreme cost to performance ratio , I say single cards are the way to go. Little simpler to run , less heat (since it's one card) , maybe a even less power consumption. Make sure you get that powersupply in before the card tho. That corsair 850 is a good unit.
