Artifacts on HIS 4870

I've been having some really weird artifacting with my new 4870.

It only appears in certain games that I've tried so far, namely HL2EP2 and Stalker: Clear Sky. There were also very slight artifacts in FEAR2, but only a few tiny pixels compared to the jutting polygons from models and flickering bars across the screen in the other games. (Even ran HL2EP2 on 800x600 with everything on the lowest setting possible... still graphics corruption)

My card never exceeds 66C, so I doubt it's a heat issue. Not to mention it artifacts even when it's not hot. If I run furmark stability tests, the artifacting begins almost immediately.

Example: http://img22.imageshack.us/img22/5224/12825157xs2.jpg
The flickering appears all over the model.

I thought it might be a driver issue, I've tried catalyst 9.1, 8.12, and the boxed driver the card came with. All suffer from the same problem.

My card runs WoW, Dead Space, Far Cry 2 all flawlessly and on very high settings.

Did I just get a bum card or is this most certainly a driver issue?

Whats the make and model of the power supply your using. Artifacts can also be cause by a cheap or low spec power supply.

Re: Artifacts on HIS 4870

Hello there...
You need better PSU for your graphic card...
Well, you should provide us with full system specifications...

Power Supply Information and Selection

I would go for this ones:

Recommended Supply: Corsair 750-TX-750 watt

Recommended Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 750 watt

Recommended Supply: PC Power & Cooling Silencer 750 watt

Recommended Supply: Coolermaster Real Power Pro 750 watt

Recommended Supply: CORSAIR-850TX 850W

Recommended Supply: Thermaltake Toughpower 850 watt

Recommended Supply: Coolermaster Real Power Pro 850 watt

with these ones you should be fine now and in the future...
Before you decide to purchase new PSU, are you able to test your system with some other PSU [borrow from a friend or something]...
This way we will know if it is hardware issue, or perhaps software issue [possible game problems]
This sort of issue started to happen right from the start after you have installed games or after some time????

Re: Artifacts on HIS 4870

Alright, thanks.

Do you think keeping the card in the machine until I get the new PSU in a few days would damage anything?

Re: Artifacts on HIS 4870
