very annoying problem. xfx6600gt
Okay. Pretty much the problem is as follows: Whenever I launch a game that goes into full screen mode the pc crashes. It doesnt give an error message it simply goes black as if the monitor is d/c from Pc. i have to restart manuallly. Also, the pc crashes if i change my resolution..and it crashes if i change from 16bit color to 32 bit color or vice versa. The only game it was able to run was AOE2 but now it crashes at the intro video. Even before, if i hit alt -tab it would crash in the same way. I tried dxdiag and it would crash during the direct3d test. i ran sandra and everest and anything related to opengl would cause pc to crash. Ive ran memtest which past and other pc stress tests which pass unless it goes to opengl testing or something. Ive tried formatting the pc and reseating my card. Oddly enough, after formatting the pc wouldnt crash AS quickly. Ive replaced my PSU as well since my previous one was nonamer which didnt help at all.
My pc is as follows: 6600gtxfx (AGP), athlon64 3500+, msi k89neo2 mobo, coolermaster 550watt (the new psu), wd 160gb sata and wd 80gb sata. ocz 512mb and 1gig ocz pc3200 ANy solutions would be appreciated. i am pretty sure hte video card has died but id like to hear other possibilities. Oh and the only thing i havent tried is moving the card to a dif pc because If i do that i cant use this pc since no onboard video. |
