Video won't display on Acer Aspire E380 NVIDIA system

My Acer Aspire E380, running Vista Home Premium SP1. All hardware is unaltered from original equipment from Acer. When playing a DVD, audio works but no video with Windows Media Player, Power DVD, Movie Maker, or mulitple other video players. NVIDIA control panel 3D preview also does not display. I've tried updated all drivers that I can find from Acer, and updating any codecs that I could find. I've run up to the limit of my competence level.

install a pcie video card,you will probably have to up the psu at the same time
