video card question please help
Im in the market for a fairly high end gaming PC and was wondering weather its best to get the new Gigabyte GV-N285-1GH-B or a duel 9800 GT.
keep in mind im a noob when it comes to computers. i wish to run vista 64 bit with the new Intel quad Core i7 920 with the Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 motherboard and Corsair Micro 6gb memory. if you could please help me by telling which one is better and y? |

Re: video card question please help
No doubt in my mind which I would go for. The GTX285. Two 9800GT's in SLI won't give you double the performance of one 9800GT. SLI just doesn't scale all that well, some games get worse framerates with two cards, it all depends on the game. Generally though, sli is supposed to be good for a 20 or 30 percent boost in fps.
The gtx285 is the fastest single gpu card out there. Look for some reviews that compare different card's performance.

Re: video card question please help
There are some good video card comparisons at toms hardware that give relative frame rates for both single cards and sli/cf. I can't put in a link right now, at work and tom's site crashes the browser on these lame machines. But I can put in a google link where it's right up there. http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&sa...charts&spell=1
