Is my card dead?
Ok I have several problems with my computer, I have a Geforce 8500 and I am thinking its messed up. First, I have several yellow lines that run down the screen vertically. Then on my bios screen, all the words are scrambled up. Also any game that requires a graphics card won't load, mainly battlefield 2, which it did run before all this started happening. Does anyone have suggestions? I have tried many times to clean install my graphics card, and it does the same thing.

Re: Is my card dead?
Hello...
Could you provide us with full system specifications??? This sounds like graphic card issue... Take out graphic card and clean contacts with rubber [eraser]... Clean PCI-E slot from the dust with brush... What is make/model of your PSU??? Uninstall old drivers, download from the Internet new one and install... Visit nVidia Web Site and check which drivers are the best for your graphic card... I would recommend installing .Net Framework 3.0 before installing ForceWare drivers... If you already have installed Framework there is no need to install again, you can repair though... Keep us posted... |

Re: Is my card dead?
I have a AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Asus M2M-Sli Motherboard 2 GB ram. 450W power supply, don't know the make, I have done everything else and still have the same problem. Another thing I noticed in device manager I have a code 10 error. If it is my card can anyone recommend a good card for under 100? I don't play very graphic intense games, just want it to be able to run BF2 and games alike on High graphics..

Re: Is my card dead?
Code 10 error means that you did not install drivers correctly...
So uninstall them in Safe mode... Restart PC... Install new drivers... I can not tell you if you have enough power to run your graphic card because if your PSU is quality one than you can, if it is no name than power might be issue... Open one side of the case and look for a sticker or tag... If you want to replace graphic card, you need to replace PSU too because for that amount of money you can buy a decent graphic card but therefore you should buy more powerful PSU... |

Re: Is my card dead?
Opps wrong computer, It has a code 43 error, not 10. Also I not think my PSU is the problem my system runs very cool always, and the 8500 isn't a great card.

Re: Is my card dead?
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
Recommended resolution One of the drivers controlling the device notified the operating system that the device failed in some manner. Take out graphic card and clean contacts with rubber eraser... Are you able to try your graphic card on some other PC??? See how it will act... About PSU: OK, it can handle your current graphic card, but if you buy new and more powerful one, you should purchase better and good quality PSU... |
