Hello,
When i restart my computer, it starts up, but then it goes into 'Power Saving Mode'. But that's not all; my monitor (box) will start to make noises, like beeping. It's not the speakers, it's the monitor (big rectangular box that has the CD drive there. Could someone please give me some advice? All help appretiated! Thanks a lot! ~ BMW ~ EDIT: Better explanation: When i restart my computer, it starts up, but then the monotor goes into 'Power Saving Mode'. But that's not all; my box will start to make noises, like beeping. It's not the speakers, it's the box thing (big rectangular box that has the CD drive there).

Re: Computer Boot up problem, help needed
Alright, well my first thought was that if you are having video problems to the extent that something in the computer was beeping (as in BIOS beeps, I wonder) it might be the PSU (Power Supply Unit), and OEM's are notorious for using poor quality PSU's.
But if you can boot to Safe Mode, the problem should still be there if it's the PSU, so now I am wondering if it's either some 3rd party application, or if perhaps the beeping is your heat alarm going off, which is then (for whatever reason) shutting down your video. Or it could be more than one problem, possibly with a common cause. Boot to BIOS and navigate: Start>Run>(type)"msconfig" and then under "Services" click "Hide Microsoft Services" and untick all the rest, and untick all the startups under "Startups". Reboot, and report back here if the original symptom of the power save mode & beeping stays or goes away. |

Re: Computer Boot up problem, help needed
PSU = Power Supply Unit.
Open the case. Try to get a manufacturer, model number and wattage (output). Are these beeps continuous, or do the start, then stop at some point while the machine is running ? dai's question is referring to BIOS error codes, which can be described in a definable pattern of short and long beeps. For example: two short, then one long beep. These error codes means something, hence the suggestion to the link to the reference. My question was aimed at the possiblity of an alarm beep, so the question is which of these types of these beeps do you have. |

Re: Computer Boot up problem, help needed
Erm, we kinda like to get to read the end of the story, after having started the book. What was the problem, and how did it get fixed ?
Also, please mark the thread as resolved. |

Re: [SOLVED] Computer Boot up problem, help needed
I just got a new monitor. It wasn't really fixed though.
I'm not a wiz at the technical side of things though. Thanks everyone for the help! I really appreciate it :) I researched the matter of what happened, but I couldn't find a resolution. BMW. |

Re: Computer Boot up problem, help needed
Yeah, it's saying either your video card is not seated properly (pull it out and put it back securely), or your video card has a hardware problem. Replacing the drive will show whether or not the video card is bad.

Re: Computer Boot up problem, help needed
either the card has
dirty contacts is not seated is faulty or there is insufficient power for the card if you clean the contacts on the card and the socket and make sure it is seated if it is still a problem,can you get a friend to try the card in their computer to check it
