[SOLVED] pALIT 9600gt 1GB sonic problems..
guys,
help badly needed, i just bought a GeForce9600GT 1GB sonic 256 bit, that supports dual dual-link DVI.. i used to have a GeForce6200 LE 256 mb.. and my mother board is an ASUS P5GZ-MX.. so there, i installed the 9600 hardware and when i started my computer, it was running with the system start up sound and all, but there was nothing on the screen, there was no signal at all, by the way my monitor's kinda old, its a 15" AOC CRT with a VGA connector. then i tried putting back my old 6200 LE connecting the cable into the DVI-I socket using a VGA to a DVI-I adapter and there was no signal too, but when i put it back to the VGA socket then it was okay.. hmmm im having major problems here, do i have to buy a new monitor? that supports DVI?... or could this be because of mynpower supply that's just 500 watts? here are some of my specs by the way: CPU: intel pentium D 2.8ghz Memory: 1.5 GB Hard drive: just 1 hard drive i hpe you guys have the answer.. im gna try to bring this back to the shop where i bought it and have it tested with my unit on a different monitor.. thanks guys.. |

Ok when you installed the card did you first uninstall the old drivers.

Re: pALIT 9600gt 1GB sonic problems..
oh man, sorry i wasn't able to check on the replies, but thanks for the help bigfella, i went back to the shop, they tried a couple of vid cards like a 9600 gt 512mb 256 bit, even an 8500 gt, no display at all.. they told me its my motherboard, and i can update my bios in it but its illegal so they wont do it.. to cut the story short i ended up with a 7200 gs.. im so disappointed ryt now..
sorry you guys m just a noob at these things.. well then m now planin on upgrading my motherboard for a 9800gt sonic.. f i only read ur reply earlier.. thanks a lot bigfella, but i think what you gave me could've made it work right? well i cnt go back to the shop and get the vid card back.. and no, i did not install the old drivers.. thanks again buddy. |

Re: pALIT 9600gt 1GB sonic problems..
illegal? Where are you shopping? OMG. Take that 7200 back and get your original card. To be honest, i don't know where to start with that advice, manufacturers post new bios for motherboards all the time. It is certainly not illegal. Your motherboard bios's can be found here: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...&model=P5GZ-MX
Get your old card back mate. That 7200 is worthless.

Re: pALIT 9600gt 1GB sonic problems..
LOL.. i really suck at this.. i mean in their store they're not allowed to update bios. well, i'll find time to get it back, im from the philippines by the way. i'll update my bios and then do the stuff that you posted. updating bios wont cause my motherboard black-out right?

Re: pALIT 9600gt 1GB sonic problems..
Hi mate. There is always a risk with such activities, but it is very slight. Make sure you have a backup of your important stuff (you should anyway). Follow my initial instructions first regarding the drivers.
Then if that fails, try the bios update route. Good luck man!
