Frustrating video problem

On my one computer (not the one in my signature). I have broken the onboard vga port. So I went out and bought a used video card from one of my friends who work in a computer store. Long story short, it worked fine when I first installed it next time I boot up its gone. Needless to say the video card and motherboard are in working condition but I am still receiving no video at all on my screen. Any help whatsoever would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks,
Rob
