Re: graphics card

No any will not do we need to figure out if the slot is 2x, 4x, or 8x AGP.
Right click on "My Computer" and select properties from the list see if there is a model listed in the lower half on the right side of the properties box.

Re: graphics card

Seeing as you have your pc open or u can open it, take a look at it and look for some sort of model or make, for example it should say ASUS, or something like that with a few numbers and letters underneath representing the model of your mobo make. When you do this go to google type it in, look around at different sites for a exact picture of yours.
Then once you find the exact model and make on google you can look at different sites for specs on it, look for slot types, usually a motherboard has 1-4 pci slots and 1 pci express or in your case a AGP, then when you find out exactly the slot come post the info and your budget, thanks

Re: graphics card

You should get a box that looks like this. It may or may not have the model number and the manufacturers name.

Re: graphics card

Have a look around the cpu on the motherboard to see if there is a name and model etched on the board, while your in there have a look at the label on the power supply for the total watts and the amps on the 12v rail.
With a P4 2.93 I'm pretty sure a 4x/8x card will work. but lets see what you can find.

Re: graphics card

My psu is 250w (i will also be replacing this)
My motherboard is says "asus p5s800 - vm"

I went on ASUS site and it says this about expansion slots:
3 x PCI
1 x AGP 8x (1.5V only)

so that tell use what we need an AGP 8x. but what does 1.5v mean

Re: graphics card

The 1.5v would mean a 4x/8x card as 8x only cards are .8 volt.

What kind of a budget do you have for the PSU and Video card
What country are you shopping in?

Re: graphics card

Yes that is a very good card, you will need a good Quality 550w power supply to power it.
