9800GTX Woes
Just recently I've encountered an odd problem. My 9800GTX was working perfectly and would run games like Fallout3 and Warhammer Online etc great on max settings. However yesterday when I tried to run both these applications the framerate was considerably lacking, where I was getting 45-55 fps in Fallout outside, I'm now getting 10-20. The same goes for Warhammer, instead of a smooth experience it's turned to a jerky one.
I tried updating to the latest drivers which seemed to make no improvements. As I'm going through the process of checking other 3d accelerated programs I thought I'd post here, as I have no idea what could have caused the problem. It frustrates me to no end that what was working perfectly before is not working now. My full PC specs: MB - Gigabyte EP35-DS3P GPU - Gigabtye 9800GTX PSU - Thermaltake TR2-550W RAM - 4x1G Kingston 800 CPU - Q6600 quad OS - Vista 64 Any help is much appreciated, Hawk |

Re: 9800GTX Woes
Each core gets to about 58-62 while under considerable load.
Probably worth mentioning also that its an extremely hot day today, I'd expect them to be a few degrees lower under normal circumstances. |

Re: 9800GTX Woes
Will do, I'll order some tonight.
As far as the graphics card is concerned am I correct in saying that you think it's the PSU holding it back, what kind of PSU would you recommend for my system? aka. whats a quality unit? I appreciate the help, Hawk edit: Reading the PSU section now, any recommendations still much appreciated. Last edited by Hawkules; 01-13-2009 at 12:38 AM. |
