Xfx 260 black edition heat problem? i think

ok while playing counter strike source "not that graphically intense" my screen went like crazy with lines purple green etc... i couldn't see anything it covered the whole screen

i opened my case and felt my 260 and it was hot
so i downloaded riva tuner "only way i know how to change the fan speed" and put the fan speed to 70% and it hasn't crashed on CSS since and Ive played alot

tonight i was playing left 4 dead for around 3 hours and my screen went grey and i had to restart.. felt the card and it was hot
but my door was closed for 3 hours and my room got hot

i opened my door and in about 2 min the card was cool to the touch

heres a pic of my computer
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/5...4091433yf7.jpg

is this just a heat problem where i need to keep my door open etc..
or is this a problem with the card where i need to call someone and get it replaced

system

Re: Xfx 260 black edition heat problem? i think

it may just depend on your card

just keep the fan at 70%

I have a EVGA GTX 260 it really does heat up my room too.

your PSU seems fine so do the rest of the components

can you post a screenshot of the rivatuner hardware monitoring like this

I'm running Folding@home so my graphics is going full blast. with a 20% overclock

core speed - 725mhz from 575mhz
Shader clock - 1550mhz from 1200mhz
Memory clock - 1250mhz from 999mhz

fan @ 70% the card runs at 66C - 69C
on idle its around 48C

Re: Xfx 260 black edition heat problem? i think

no need to grad F@H your temps are really nice.

I would keep the fan at around 60% +
probably the best fan speed is at 70% for noise and temperature wise
