xfx 9800gx2 serious problem

hi to everyone
I've got my 9800gx2 about 5 month ago the problem is that card temperature at idle is 68 and 70 Celsius for gpu1 and gpu2 the fan still at stock settings 45% while playing games it goes up to 78 and 80 and when it's really hot weather its goes up to 103
tried to speed up the fan to 80% temp is perfect dropped like 9 degrees but the problem starts now as soon i pushed the fan up my pc start rebooting itself like crazy tried uninstalling vga driver and install it again didn't work so had to reformat my pc it kept rebooting while formatting until i installed the vga driver again and then everything was perfect that happen twice so why everytime i speed up the fan my pc start resarting itself??????

Re: xfx 9800gx2 serious problem

Well I've never really heard of A-power before. It appears to have enough amps if the rails are combined. However they fail to mention anywhere in the add or printed on it or the box what it's efficiency is. And I could imagine that if they don't say then its definitely not 80%.

Check the efficeincy if you can either on it's label or manual. It doesn't look like too bad a unit but might be a possible suspect.

What program are you useing to change the fan speed?

Re: xfx 9800gx2 serious problem

new
90 warranty should set the alarm bells ringing
one third the price of a quality unit
for a quality unit here the prices will be $400+

Yes I should have also noticed the price , 99 anything is too little for a 1200w.

Re: xfx 9800gx2 serious problem

you will find it in the specs on the makers site if it has any quality
low quality units they don't usually list it
if they did you would be unlikely to buy it
how long have you had it as it has a 7 day return period

If the replacement is of no charge then get it as a temporary fix and look into a better unit soon.

Re: xfx 9800gx2 serious problem

I think you can probably do an toughpower 850w since it's just a single 9800 gx2 , a 1200w is going to kill your electric bill , not to mention it's 400$. lol.
