Asus AX800 ATI VGA card

Dear All,

I have had random problems and assume it is my VGA at fault. Occasionally my screen locks up usually when I am online (rather than working locally) for a few seconds then goes black and then comes back to life and I carry on working.

System specification is:
AMD Athlon 64 CPU
Asus A8N-E Motherboard
Asus AX800 Extreme VGA
2 x 512 MB Crucial Ballistix DDR memory
Antec 480W ATX PSU

480 is plenty for my hardware and I have installed several different drivers over a period of 18 months but this problem persists.

I have noticed that the VGA installation poster http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/vga/agp/v7700/q1833_vga_setup_poster_front.pdf discusses auxiliary power so I opened up my PC and sure enough there is no connection here. Now to my question - I cannot seem to find a suitable cable!! The PCI cable that came with my PSU is 6 pin molex but this is 4 pin (photo attached) and much smaller than the old 4 pin floppy connectors.

Can anyone please help me source the appropriate cable please? I have already gone through Asus who can't help as they "..only manufacture". I have also surfed for hours and can't get anywhere.

Harumph!

Re: Asus AX800 ATI VGA card

See the label JU2 rather then PWR would lead me to believe that is not a power connector but rather a jumper or a way for the manufacturer to flash or reset the cards Bios.

You may have a driver conflict or a ram issue try running memtest on 1 stick at a time and see if you get any fails> http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

Re: Asus AX800 ATI VGA card

Thank you. Re the ram I did check them out a while ago and got lots of errors on both sticks so presumed it was the motherboard as these were two brand new Crucial Ballistix modules. I will check it again.
