monitor goes black without the machine freezing
Just bought a new machine and I installed Windows Xp 64 pro, for some reason the root harddrive become e: and not c:
I downloaded all the new drivers for all computer components and the computer seemed to be working fine for a while. Then I started to get this error: im not sure what triggers it , it seems very random. It may come when I have just started the pc or it may not come for several days. what happen is: (I use 2 monitors) both my screens get white flashing dots all over the screen, then my first monitor goes green or black, my second monitor goes white or black then I get the signal lost on my monitors. At first I thought the computer crashed, but at one time I talked to a friend trough ventrilo when the error accurd and it seems I might still talk trough ventrilo and countiue to play games while my monitors are black. I have tried to reattach the monitor cables, turned monitor off and on, pressed the source button on my monitors, but the only things that gets back the picture on my monitors is a restart. The montiors I use works perfectly on my other computer. I have the following computer: Sapphire Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5,PCI-Express 2.0, 2xDVI/HDMI/HDCP Cooler Master Centurion 534 Corsair Powersupply 750W Black, ATX/EPS, 140mm Fan, 8xSATA, SLI Asus P5Q PRO, P45, Socket-775, DDR2,ATX, GbLAN, Firewire, 2xPCI-Ex(2.0)16 Intel Core? 2 Duo E8600 3,33GHz,Socket 775, 6MB, 1333MHz, Boxed w/Fan NorthQ 3580 Water Cooling Kit,Socket 775/754/939/940/AM2 Corsair TWIN2X 6400C5DHX DDR2, 4096MB Kit w/two CL5 2GB Dimm's, E.P.P and DHX Western Digital Caviar GP 500GB SATA2,16MB 7200RPM |

Re: monitor goes black without the machine freezing
i dont think so. the driver you updated could be. coz thats the same thing happened to me.
i downloaded and installed new ATI driver and after restart it was fine. after like 15 to 20 minutes it just kicked me and black screen just popped out. with my computer still running. i restored to previous state when it was still perfect. good thing it was recovered. and did you make a partition or is that a two harddisk?.. |

Re: monitor goes black without the machine freezing
no I just have 1 harddisk, so im not sure why it made e: instead of c:
did you get the white dots and color changes as well ? its really strange because it can work perfectly fine for sever days, but one day it might appear 1-3 times. |
