Faulty HD4850 or is it something else?
Specs:
RaidMax Smilodon Gaming Case GIGABYTE GA-EP43-DS3L Intel P43 Intel E7200 Stock Speeds (2.53) G.SKILL 2x2GB 800MHz 5-5-5-15 ASUS HD4850 512MB 700/1140 Samsung 320GB HDD SAMSUNG 22X DVD Burner Rosewill 500Watt Power Supply Logitech MX518 Lately My games have been crashing. Weird yellow bars across the screen or green. I try to run dual monitors, but my screen comes with up 35+ green vertical bars of differect shades and on the other monitor they are blue. When i play games that demand more or use the latest technology the game crashes and the sound loops and I have to restart my computer. I don't think it would be my motherboard because everything works when not ingame. Ram seems ok to because I use Adobe After Effects and sometime it shoots up to 70% usage. I play Half life 2 a lot and nothing happens in that game no crashes or anything. It only seems to happen when I play the latest games... CoD:4, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and FarCry 2. I really want to find out whats going on with this. Should I buy a new card switch out my ram and try 1 stick at a time. Should I borrow a friends card. I am on my last nerve because I really want to play GTA:IV. Thank you. |

Re: Faulty HD4850 or is it something else?
read the power supply info thread in ym signature. Rosewill is not anywhere close to our approved list. Also, the 4 series simply wont run on 500 watts, even if it were a quality unit.

Power Supply, but I've seen a lot of vidoes reviews and stuff. Are you sure, but then again I'm a beginner and should take your advice. What kind would you recommend?

Re: Faulty HD4850 or is it something else?
I figured it out with a friends help. He said to completely uninstall my drivers. Both software and from device manager. I did that then installed them, and restarted my PC 2 times. Now it works no more green bars. And best of all I can run dual monitors! :D
