SATA connectors block video card?
Hello,
I recently purchased a new 'PNY XLR8 GeForce 8800 GT' Video Card for my 'Gateway DX4640 - UBC01A'. The onboard motherboard is a '4006273R - MSI NVIDIA MCP73PV'. Now the problem I'm having is that the SATA connectors on the motherboard are positioned so that the vide card can't possibly fit with the SATA cables connected. I tried rearranging the cables, but they still block the heat sink if the card. Is there anything I can do short of buying a new motherboard? I'd really like to avoid that as I just plopped down enough cash for this thing in the first place. I just have a hard time believing a motherboard manufacturer would be stupid enough to put the SATA connectors so close to the only x16 PCI slot on the board. =( |

Re: SATA connectors block video card?
you're not alone. Many companies havent figured out that the clearance doesn't exist.
Right angle SATA cables will clear, however.

Re: SATA connectors block video card?
they're lifesavers. Thankfully, mine aren't blocked. I can't reset CMOS instead.
