New Video Card has Killed Sound
I have just installed a new video card on my PC, it's a Sapphire Radeon HD3450, to replace my old one which blew up a couple of months back. It works fine, but ever since I installed it, I have no sound on my PC. In Device Manager the sound card is still showing as installed and working properly. The speakers still crackle slightly if you turn up the volume, so I assume they are okay, but I don't have any sound at all.
Any ideas? |

Re: New Video Card has Killed Sound
control panel > sound option.
ATi cards with HDMI capability default their HDMI port as default sound device. You have to change it back.

Re: New Video Card has Killed Sound
Check the Bios under integrated devices to make sure the sound is still set to enabled.
We have seen installations of ATI cards make the bios detect the HD sound on the card and switch the integrated off. |

Re: New Video Card has Killed Sound
t would be on playback tab. IT should likely list your origional sound device, and the ATi card.

No, just the sound device. I will try Wrench's suggestion when I get a moment to reboot. |

Re: New Video Card has Killed Sound
Wrench was right on the money. Went into the BIOS and changed the integrated sound from 'Auto' to 'Enabled' and now magically I have my sound back. Thanks for the help everyone and Wrench especially.
